Highlights
RMP Colleges
RMP fellows regularly met with their mentors who serve as supportive and experienced thought partners. Meetings centered on check-ins on their projects, offering feedback on curriculum development, and ongoing support on implementing effective teaching practices.
In Fall 2025 Henry Ford College RMP fellows shared at a departmental meeting techniques to implement active learning in their courses.
In August 2026, Jackson College RMP fellows hosted a day-long training workshop on active learning.
In their regional Secondary Math Network meetings, Westshore Community College RMP fellows promoted active learning principles to local high school mathematics teachers.
RMP colleges participated in three two-hour virtual faculty development workshops--Learnshops-- on the principles of active learning. These were led by Dr. April Ström and Dr. Scott Adamson of Chandler Gilbert Community College (CGCC).
In the spring, some RMP fellows visited CGCC for faculty observations and interviews.
Self-Efficacy Survey Instrument
We conducted phase-two of the self-efficacy survey (RMPSI) with a narrow focus on how to develop an instructor self-efficacy scale for effective teaching of mathematics--henceforth called the RMPSI-Scale--unique to community college mathematics education.
Dissemination
At the 2025 MichMATYC Conference workshop, RMP Leadership spearheaded a discussion on the state of mathematics education at two-year colleges in Michigan. Through the discussions participants explored potential implications for policy and practice and how to build a collaborative approach to support MichMATYC in its efforts toward meaningful change in community college mathematics education in the state.
In November 2025, RMP leadership presented on the RMP project at the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges annual conference session AMATYC Grant Series: NSF Funding Opportunities 2YC Math Faculty.
